Copywriter

Position Summary

This position will report preferably to the Vice President of Marketing. He/she will have partnerships with R&D, Creative, Finance, Sales, Merchandising, Operations, Legal/Regulatory, Compliance, Customer Service, IT, Events, Recognition, QC, Corporate Communications, International Sales and Executives.

This position requires extensive copy writing and proof reading experience.  He/She will need to deliver copy that is persuasive and engages our distributors and consumers and builds our brands. Maintains brand standards, tone of voice, stellar attention to detail, and flawless grammar.  Must possess exceptional organizational and time management skills.  It is crucial that this individual be comfortable multi-tasking and able to prioritize and meet deadlines against many competing activities.  Driven work ethic and strong sense of autonomy.

A master collaborator is also required to perform the essential job duties.  Must be able to have positive partnerships within the company and externally.  Must have excellent communications skills.  Ability to contribute and develop an engaging work culture.  Must be a team player and have a get-it-done attitude.  Handles conflict in an appropriate, constructive, and professional manner.  Possesses and portrays a mature, professional, ethical and positive company image and demeanor at all times.  Shows responsibility in punctuality and attendance; ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; available as necessary when out of the office.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams in the development and execution of content.
  • Participate in communication strategy for respective brands (pre-launch, launch, quarterly post launch, annual post mortem, and on-going support).
  • One of the brand visionaries and gatekeepers on all (B2B and B2C) touch points (marketing tools, merchandising materials, corporate website, back-office, advertising, videos/television, e-marketing, social media, public relations, conventions and events, photography, etc.).
  • Partner with Marketing and Creative teams to develop tool kits, style guides, and marketing assets.
  • Participate in determining the (B2B and B2C) touch points needed for new product launches or on-going sales support.
  • Develop compelling copy for email communication, social media assets, blogs, websites, flyers, training materials, promotions, video, events, etc.
  • Write engaging and persuasive headlines, taglines, product names and other marketing copy that moves people to action.
  • Create and communicate concepts, unique selling points (USP), benefits and call-to-action copy.
  • Understand our products, our distributors and customers to ensure writing resonates with our target audience.
  • Edit and proofread all department content for accuracy and consistency.
  • Must be willing to research independently when necessary.
  • Ability to problem solve; identify issues/opportunities and articulate direction(s) for integrated marketing activities and proactively ensure on-time deliverables.
  • Assist in setting brand direction for copywriting and claims for all new product launches or brand related marketing materials and online forums.
  • Assist in providing direction in the script for all company recordings and postings of new product launches or promotions.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required in English, Journalism or related field, post graduate degree preferred.
  • 4-5 years of professional experience in an agency, communication’s company, or as in-house staff.
  • Consumer goods company experience is highly desired and will be given preference.
  • Portfolio reflecting work product is required for consideration.
  • Proficient in Word, Power Point and Outlook is required.
  • Medium and short-form copywriting and ad-copy experience is required.
  • Sales force and Consumer copywriting experience is preferred.
  • Experience in digital touch points (email, websites, social, video, etc.) and with launching content in those channels is highly preferred.
  • Familiar with web content best practices, including SEO and HTML is highly desired.
  • Experience with A/B testing of copy to drive higher incremental conversion rates is highly desired.
  • Adept in working with a broad range of departments and in a global and matrix organization.
  • Experience in working in international markets is a plus.
  • Multi-lingual is a plus.
  • Experience in Direct Selling industry is a plus.
